Marcy was adopted from a shelter. Black cats are spooky and tend to not get adopted.
That was, apparently, the whole appeal.
She came home, inspected the premises with the thoroughness of a building inspector, and settled in. She has been critiquing things ever since.

Why she interjects
From time to time on this blog, Marcy will appear in a callout box to offer her perspective. She does not ask permission. She does not consider your feelings. She has simply been present for most of the experiences described here — usually asleep nearby — and feels this qualifies her to comment.
Her takes are consistent: brief, unvarnished, and largely correct in a way that is annoying to acknowledge. She has no agenda. She has no brand. She just tells you what she sees.
